One of my very favorite things about planning our reception (and our wedding in general) was creating fun details to be included in our big day! Even though we've only been married for seven months, this was pre-pinterest days, so finding wedding details was much tougher! Girls these days have it much easier. ;)
First, Rob's groom's cake! Honestly, I maybe loved this cake more than our actual wedding cake. It was of course a complete surprise and Rob (being a Yankee!) had never even seen a groom's cake. This cake is a replica of the Ohio State Stadium, Rob's alma mater.
Here's our pretty wedding cake! I was obsessed with monogramming everything--including the cake. I thought (and still think!) our monogram is perfect because it's r D r--perfectly symmetrical!
One of my FAVORITE details of our wedding was all of our pretty paper! One of my friends, Josh, designed it all for us, including our beautiful monogram. This was his wedding gift to us--and I seriously could not be more grateful. He designed our invitations, response cards, reception cards, programs, table settings, menus, thank you cards, and I'm sure there's more I just can't think of right now. He was such a champ when I would give him feedback like--make it more curly-q. Ha! I LOVED the end result and I kept so many as mementos. :)
Anyways, here is a gathering of our table cards. Instead of doing a traditional numbering setup, we went with things that are special to us as a couple--places we've traveled, our pets, college, etc. Josh did a little doodle of each of the items and I just fell in love with them. Aren't they darling?!
Here is our beautiful menu! I LOVED it, as well. I just have to brag one more time! When I picked everything up from the printer, they asked me who had designed them. The owner got his contact information in case anyone wants some personalized work! I was so flattered that she liked the paper products for our wedding so much--and I was excited to get to brag on my good friend (and groomsman!)
Here is another fun (and beautiful!) detail our florist extraordinaire came up with for me! Julie, a good friend of my family's from our church, had an art class at her local high school help out with designing the giant D's for the doors at the church and the reception site. They were then covered in white carnations. Gorgeous! :)
Here is our wedding cake topper! I had SUCH a hard time deciding on using a custom cake topper or buying something. I pretty much obsessed to no end, but in the end I am really happy with our choice. I wanted something beautiful and classic. And, hopefully our kids will be able to use this someday. :)
One more picture, friends! The week before our wedding, I decided we were missing something...but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. After much needless stress, I decided to add a candy bar. This was a huge hit and I am so thankful for my friends and family who made this happen. This gave the kids (and adults!) an alternative to cake. We still had quite a bit of candy leftover, but I was amazed at the amount of candy people actually ate! :)
Alright friends, I'll be back soon with one last set of reception photos! :) Hope you enjoy! :)
I love your wedding stationery! It's so beautiful!
