miscellany monday!

Hi friends!  I hope you have all had great weekends!  I am looking forward to reading your recaps of the weekend! :)  Mine was exception, as I got to spend some much-needed quality time with my husband and good friends! :)

Today I'm linking up with lowercase letters to share all things miscellaneous!

-I'm excited it's Monday.  AH! Yes, I did say that!  My family is coming up to visit this weekend and I can't wait to see them.  Each day we are one day closer to our weekend of fun!  My mom has meetings on Saturday and Sunday, but my sister and cousins will be here for us to have fun all day!  I have some fun baking and crafting ideas planned.  My cousins have already ordered up a scary haunted house, which freaks me out a little, but I'm game! :)

-I made an apple pie for Rob's birthday last week!  I used a gf crust from Whole Foods, which was pretty good!  In fact, you couldn't really tell it was gluten free--which is always a sign of success!  The crust broke a little when i was putting it up on the top, but it was still delicious! :)

-This weekend I was in a pretty intense euchre game.  My friend Alicia and I were on a team against our boyfriends/husbands.  The game got pretty heated--and Rob had to dress accordingly.  I got a huge kick out of his backwards hat. :)

This weekend I got a total of 12 hours of sleep, so I am really running ragged today.  I have lots of work to keep me busy for the next few days, but I am going to try my best to get back into wedding recaps.  I haven't done any updates in awhile, but be on the lookout for those this week!

miscellany monday!

It's been ages since I've linked up with Miscellany Monday, so it's time to do it again!  Head over to Carissa's blog to join in on the fun!

-I was almost completely unplugged from my phone, the internet, and television this weekend.  It was so nice!  And honestly, I didn't feel like I missed that much!  Bethenny has a rule about no blackberry after 6 PM.  Not a bad idea!

-I spent Friday and Saturday with my momma and sister.  I love getting to spend time with them and it just doesn't happen nearly enough.  My mom and cousins are coming up to visit in October and I'm trying to convince my sister to tag along for the weekend!! :)

-Sunday was spent running errands and working on our deck.  Rob worked on the deck until he ran out of paint.  We bought more stain and worked on that for the rest of the day.  Pretty much until the sun went down.  I had plans to run today, but my legs are so tired from squatting, bending, and everything else that I did in the five or so hours we spent painting.  I think today is a day of rest!

-Late Saturday night I made a meal plan and clipped coupons.  We saved 20% off of our grocery bill-which is amazing for us because we normally just shop the perimeter of the grocery store.  There's never coupons for fresh produce!  Anyways, I was super proud of myself!

-Tonight's menu calls for Rob's chili and grilled cheese.  We just finished putting everything in the crock pot to cook until dinner time.  I am ecstatic dinner is already planned and ready to eat.  Those are the best days!

-#1 What do you think of the new blog layout?  It is definitely a work in progress--and I know there's nothing under the tabs, but that will hopefully change this week!  :)  AND what do you think of the new blog name?

-#2 I just made some reservations/plans for a surprise date night for my sweet husband and I!  I have had an idea in the back of my mind and today I made it all come together!  He's a frequent blog reader so I can't give away any details, but it's right up his alley!! :)

-#3 Are you going to a Royal Wedding Watching party?  I am going to be in St. Louis for a working weekend so I have my DVR set.  I am so obsessed with the Royal Wedding, though!  I can't wait to see what Kate will be wearing!! :)

-#4 And last but not least--how was your Easter??  This was my first Easter away from my family--even when I was in Kenya my momma was there!!  Rob and I did go to Kentucky for the day on Saturday, which was so nice!  I hated to leave and so then I had some major homesickness on Saturday evening.  Rob was pretty sweet about it--I felt like such a crybaby!  We did go to a beautiful church in town that I've never been to before.  The church was amazing--lots of little kids, young families, and a great service!  I have some pictures, but no camera cord.  I used to just put my photo card directly into Rob's computer, but then I broke his computer...so we will all just have to wait until I get a computer cord! haha :)

miscellany monday!

Welcome back to another week of blogging!  :)  If you're interested in doing a miscellany post of your own, make sure to link up with Carissa at lowercase letters!  

-I was home most of the weekend and let me tell you--it was amazing!!  I really, really tried to soak up every minute of the time I got to spend with Rob, my pets, and in our home.  The weather wasn't perfect, but we got so many things done around the house that I don't feel so frazzled anymore!!

-I mentioned before that I killed Rob's computer last week.  Friday night we decided to update Rob's computer from an old desk top to a sleek laptop.  Only problem--it's a lot harder for me to upload my pictures.  Hopefully I'll have something figured out ASAP so there will be more pictures around here! :)

-I'm **FINALLY** caught up in my life.  There are no longer loads of laundry, dishes, thank you notes, tv shows, mail, etc to catch up on.  That's right--no more thank you notes!  I know there's supposed to be a one year time frame to send out your thank you notes after your wedding, but honestly I feel so guilty about using our gifts without thanking people it just wasn't worth it.  So, last night Rob and I had a marathon of Band of Brothers and I cranked them all out!  They still need addressed, but I think that should be done this week! :)

 

-My last miscellany thought of the week--I am so excited Friday Night Lights is back!!  It's kind of bittersweet, but I am mainly just so excited to have FNL back in my life!  When I watched the season premiere, I felt like I was getting to see my old friends again.  (no judgement!)

miscellany monday

I'm so excited to be linking up with Carissa at her lowercase letters blog today!  I'm going to take a little bit different approach this week--still miscellany, but more of a to do list for my own sanity!

I have been trying SO hard to catch up since we returned from our honeymoon, but I'm still struggling in a couple of areas.  I'm sure it doesn't help that the first six days we were back, I had to travel at least two hours on five of the days.  Does that even make sense?  In my head it does...thus the reason for a miscellany monday post based on catching up!

-I really need to work on my thank you notes.  I only have about 35 left, but I want to get them out soon so they aren't hanging over my head forever!  I try to work on thank you notes when I'm catching up on my tv shows, which leads me to...

-I am so behind on my tv shows!  I have several episodes of Glee, House, Kourtney and Kim Take New York (no judgement!), and Parenthood to watch!  And, while this isn't technically a major thing to take care of, in my mind it still is something that stresses me out!

-Spring cleaning!  I have three major spring cleaning goals.  1.  Paint the front porch.  (Rex's toenails have certainly done a number on our porch!) 2. Clean out the garage.  (Isn't that on everyone's to do list?) and 3.  Clean out our appliance cabinet.  There are so many things in it that can be donated.  And, the doors don't completely shut because they are so overloaded.  (no judgement again!!)

-And, last but not least post our honeymoon and wedding pictures and videos!  I have three honeymoon posts in the works, so it's just a matter of finishing them up and hitting publish! :)
