Today I am linking up with CMae to show off my pretty engagement ring. Rob proposed to me with absolutely the ring of my dreams! Evidently I had pointed out a few rings to him in a magazine, however I honestly have no recollection of this ever happening! I don't know if I've ever shared my engagement story on my blog, but here is the short and sweet version of it!
Rob and I started dating in December 2009 and very quickly knew we weren't going to be dating anyone else. In March, my sister and I went on vacation with some friends to Mexico. When we flew home, I talked to Rob in the airport and he told me he was shopping at the mall with one of his friends. This is so not Rob! I knew something was up--but I didn't know if he had bought anything or his friend had bought something for his serious girlfriend.
Things were really busy from that time on through the summer. I was working lots of weekends and after I got over the first stage of thinking he was going to propose every time I turned around, I was able to put it out of my mind. The summer of 2010 we had planned a trip together to South Africa for a friend's wedding and then we were going to be traveling onto Zimbabwe to Victoria Falls. I just knew Rob would be proposing there! :)
In June, I flew down to the beach to spend part of the week with Rob's family. The first night I got there, Rob wanted to take me for a walk on the beach. I was SO exhausted from finishing up a youth camp on that very day, that I couldn't bring myself to go! It was late so I just went straight to be.
The next day, Sunday June 20th, Rob and I started the day with his family. We all went down to the beach and I was loving my life! We spent the day laying out and I may or may not have taken a nap! I seriously could spend every day laying on the beach!
That evening, we went to dinner with Rob's family. Here is our last picture before we got engaged!
We walked around for awhile doing some shopping after dinner before we all headed back to the beach house. Rob asked me if I'd be interested in a walk on the beach and although I was still pretty tired, I agreed to go! I figured since Rob had asked two nights in a row, he really wanted to go!
We headed to the beach and immediately Rob and I started being lovey. We were started talking about how happy we were to be together and how much we had missed each other the week before when I had been working at a youth camp. In the middle of our conversation, Rob knelt down and asked me to marry him. I was absolutely not expecting this to happen! I started crying/screaming/jumping around and finally tackled Rob before agreeing to of course marry him. :)
Afterwards, we walked on the beach for a little while. We talked about our lives together, our dreams for our wedding, and just really took in the moment. Someone down the beach let off fireworks and it just completely added to the feelings of happiness and excitement we both had! I really wanted to savor the moment, so our walk was almost two hours long!
When we got back to the beach house, Rob's whole family was there to congratulate us! I called my mom and sister right away to let them know the good news! I love that Rob so completely surprised me and completely took my breath away when he proposed. :)

Pictures of both of our bands! Our wedding bands are engraved with two sentimental quotes and the day of our wedding. Mine says "You're my only". Rob's says "You're my favorite". It's something we say to each other all of the time--even now! :)
