Yesterday was one of THOSE days. I woke up kind of tired and grumpy, didn't like anything in my closet, traffic was bad on the way to work, etc.
I couldn't wait to leave work and get home to my family because we had big plans of going to the fair to show Henry all of the animals (and of course eat some great fair food!!). I was totally banking on all of the fun we would have together to get me through the day.
I had to leave work early to take Tobbie to the vet (that's a whole 'nother blog post!) and then I raced home to get Rob and Henry for the fair. Henry was in a pretty sour mood (I'm not for sure if it's teething ---but this has kind of been a theme over the past few days.) and Rob and I definitely questioned our sanity in taking a cranky baby out in the evening.
However, we loaded him up with lots of snacks/sippies and headed out. We both got really grumpy when we turned onto the road that would take us to the fair and realized the lines were backed up for a couple of miles---just to get into it!! With Henry's mood (and our crankiness too!) we realized the fair trip was not going to be in the cards for us. Rob and I quickly decided on a Mexican restaurant for dinner and headed that way before Henry had a total meltdown.
As soon as we got into the restaurant, Henry started talking about chips and repeating it over and over again. Before I could say anything (or we could get our own basket of chips!!) he walked over to the table next to ours and bummed a chip from them. Hello embarrassing! The couple next to us just laughed and happily gave him a chip.
Henry with his stolen chip!
Our dinner ended up being OK (Henry did throw my cellphone on the floor shattering the entire screen, but I HAD been wanting to upgrade to the 6!) and I was reminded of how much I love our little family. Our plans were completely changed and we had to come up with some new ones at the last minute, but it ended up being a great evening together. I AM really thankful for the times we get to spend together and this was a fun dinner out with my two favorite boys.
