I LOVE a good three day weekend! This was definitely a top weekend for me and I am still feeling the amazing effects of it. :)
My weekend kind of started on Thursday evening when my mom came up to hang out for a few days. She met us at the Sweet Corn Festival and we had the best time together. Henry was of course thrilled to see her and we all enjoyed eating the fair food. My personal favorite is the fried bologna sandwich, but Rob and my mom both enjoyed some fried green tomatoes. All delicious!
Friday after work my mom and I went to a local nursery to buy some plants for our flowerbeds that are basically nonexistent. We got to the nursery about 20 minutes before it closed, but we were still able to do some damage--one of the perks of being such a pro at shopping. :)
Friday evening my sister, one of her friends and her two kids came to our house also to spend the night. We currently have two guest bedrooms, but even this was filling our house up. I LOVE having houseguests and a noisy house. To me, a noisy house is a happy house. After all of the kids went to bed, my sister, Jessica, Rob, and I stayed up talking for awhile and had a great time. My mom went to bed with the kids. ;)
Saturday morning I woke up a little early to fix a big breakfast for everyone. I knew that I was going to be gone for most of the day, so I wanted to eat a good meal! I made cinnamon rolls for everyone plus scrambled eggs, fruit salad, and bacon. Henry loves a good cinnamon roll. :)
After breakfast + cleanup, I got ready for the day and headed to the hospital because my best friend was having a baby! I was extra thankful that a bunch of my family were in town to help with Henry so I could be there for Bird. Henry ended up going to a local water park with my sister while my mom continued to work in our flower beds. Everyone was so awesome to us this weekend!
I picked up my friend Paige and we headed to the hospital together around 10 AM. I couldn't get to the hospital fast enough, even though I knew she wasn't going to be having the baby right away! When we got there Bird was in quite a bit of pain and we tried to help her get some relief through rubbing her back and telling her jokes. Her husband ran home to get a shower and grab some breakfast, so we had some good bonding time together. We were able to watch the OSU game and pretty soon after the game started she was able to get an epidural. While Bird was resting a little we finished watching the game. My friend Paige and I hadn't really discussed being in the delivery room with Bird, but when we were in the moment Bird was all for it! I was SO excited and Paige and I were both totally geeking out over it.
I was SO thrilled to be able to witness little baby Marius being born and I was SO proud of Bird and her awesome delivery!! :)
On Sunday, Rob, Henry, and I went to church. I LOVED having my little family with me even when Henry had to go to the nursery after the opening songs. He had a great time playing, I know. Is it sad I still miss him even when he's only away from me for an hour? :)
On Monday, we had kind of junky weather. I cooked another big breakfast--pancakes, eggs, and sausage before Rob went to work at our old house, but Henry and I hung out around our house. We had a bunch of cleaning to do and I was able to complete all of that! I was also really anxious for the first Louisville football game of the season!! I dressed Henry up right before bedtime because the game wasn't until 8. I hated to wish away a day off of work, but I just couldn't wait until game time!!
Luckily we came away with a big win at home to start out our year! :) I was ALMOST asleep at the end, but I was very happy. :) I hope you had a great Labor Day Weekend as well!
